The
taxi ride home is a short linking scene. In it we see Ballard from a high
angle, sitting in the back of a cab and it makes its way through the traffic,
down the motorway toward his apartment.
The window
of the cab is open, and we see Ballard staring out, distracted as cars pass by,
looking on fascinated as though seeing something for the first time. We know
his injuries are still there, since he has a crutch lying by his side.
This is
followed by a long shot of the motorways. After the accident both Ballard and
Remington sense there has been an increase in traffic. This long shot of cars
moving along in clearly defined lines allows us to take in Ballard's new world
view. |
